Join the monks at 6pm, in the Church,
for Monastic Evening Prayer (Vespers)
followed at 6.30pm by a soup & bread supper
in the Fitzherbert Community Hub
with a talk at 7pm;
Concluding with Monastic Night Prayer (Compline) in the church.
All welcome. We invite participants to make a donation to support the Mission of the Monks in the City.

Daily Monastic Prayer
You are very welcome to pray the Divine Office with us at
St John the Baptist's Church, Kemptown at the following times:
Monastic Morning Prayer (Lauds): Mon to Sat - 9am
Monastic Evening Prayer (Vespers): Mon to Thurs - 6pm
(the church will be opened) Sat, Sun - 4:45 pm

Special Events (Summer 2026):
Wed 24th June:
Ecumenical Celebration of the Birth of St John the Baptist
(Our Church's Patronal Feast)
5:30pm 'Stations' of St John the Baptist;
using the artworks in the church
6:15pm Monastic Evening Prayer (Vespers)
followed by light refreshments
Concluding with Monastic Night Prayer (Compline)

Midday Stillness (Summer 2026):
Fridays from from 1st May to 24th July
Drop in between l2 noon - lpm for a time of music, prayer and reflection
with a monk. Includes Monastic Midday Prayer at 12:45.
Stay as long as you like.

Saturday Sanctuary (Summer 2026):
A morning of fellowship, reflection, prayer and silence on selected Saturdays:
2nd May, 6th June 4th July: 11.00 am to 12:45pm
Take time out to reflect and pray with the monks. Led by Fr Peter.
Gather in the Fitzherbert Community Hub, (adjacent to St John the Baptist’s Church, Kemptown BN2 1AP).
11:00am Refreshments and Fellowship.
11:15am Lectio Divina, time for reflection, time of prayer.
12:45pm Concludes with Monastic Midday Prayer in church.

Saturday Retreat Day: 20th June, 10am to 4pm.
at Compass House, Worth Abbey, RH10 4SB
Theme: St Benedict for Today
Join us for a day of talks, and time for reflection, prayer and silence.
We will be starting with Tea and coffee. Bring a packed lunch.
Suggested donation: £15.
Optional Transport (£5) from St John the Baptist, Kemptown at 9am.
